Grades K-5

Your child receives a top notch elementary education in the lower school at Assumption Catholic School. Our professional, dedicated, and energetic teachers will firmly ground all students in the traditional bedrock of Catholic elementary education. Students learn grammar, phonics, and mathematics with structured and engaging lessons. They practice handwriting and learn cursive and proper writing techniques.  Upon this foundation of tried and true content and teaching strategies, our staff is given the freedom to integrate the most recent and innovative ideas in 21st century education. 

All classes work with leveled readers, critical thinking techniques in mathematics, and incorporate the workshop model to best meet the needs of all students. Assumption Catholic School follows a proprietary curriculum created by the teachers of the Diocese of Bridgeport Catholic Schools. This allows our teachers to take the best of the traditional and inspired methods to create a truly unique educational experience for our students.

In addition to the core subjects of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and religion all students enjoy special subjects including Technology, Art, Music & Physical Education.
